Our client is looking for self starter that is willing to take on large and small challenges. If you have a good understanding of business, products and clients with strong skills in designing and implementing large scale, high performance, fault-tolerant database architectures this position could be right for you. This company wants an individual who can work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variables, exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results, and performs design and development of the database tier of the systems while still maintaining a solid understanding of interactions with the business and presentation tiers. A potential candidate for this position would need design skills and the ability to develop complex solutions, complete job functions such as participating in database schema design as well as implement solutions in T-SQL, fix, improve, and extend existing code bases, proactively suggest areas of improvement, alternative solutions and designs, third party tools to solve hands on problems, and recommend updates and improvements to existing systems. Other requirements of the Database Engineer position include having strong problem skills and the ability and desire to learn new technologies rapidly, strong written and verbal interpersonal skills, working well with teams, able to deal effectively with internal and external groups including clients and vendors, and the ability to work well on a product team developing customer-driven features and architectural enhancements.

Job Specifications:
? Requires BS degree. Advanced degree desirable.
? Requires 5 or more years experience in database schema design and T-SQL development on Microsoft SQL Server platform.
? Strong understanding of modern software technology. Ongoing efforts to maintain skills and knowledge at the state of the art.
? Ability to do all levels of hands on work in software engineering.
? Proven ability to work independently or in a team environment

Required areas of expertise:
? Extensive T-SQL coding experience on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and above.
? Strong familiarity of capabilities of Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
? Data access via ADO, ADO.Net.
? Extensive experience optimizing and debugging stored procedures, views, indexes, triggers, etc.
? Experience building "scale out" database architectures.

Desirable areas of expertise:
? Working familiarity with Visual Studio .Net technologies (C#, ASP.Net)
? Working familiarity with Visual Studio 6.0 technologies (VB, COM, ASP)
? Development experience on database platforms such as Oracle, MySQL, DB2
? Experience with SQL Server third party tools
? Experience with SQL Data Transformation Services (DTS)
? Experience with SQL Reporting Services

Strong understanding of modern software architecture and approaches including:
? OOP theory and practices
? Web Services
? Threading, concurrency
? Algorithms, sorting/taxonomies
? Caching
? High Availability/Reliability
