Datawarehouse Technologist II

BASIC FUNCTION (Position specific requirements may also be included at end of description)

The Data Warehouse Technologist II is responsible for extracting, transforming and loading (ETL) the data warehouse. The Data Warehouse Technologist II will develop, maintain, and support the enterprise data warehouse system and corresponding data marts. This team member will analyze and review object and data models and the metadata repository in order to structure the data for better management and quicker access. The Data Warehouse Technologist II will be competent to complete most data warehousing tasks independently, but may require some instruction and guidance on more complex tasks.
JOB DUTIES

Execute data loading techniques for all data warehouse load projects which includes extracting a desired subset of data, transforming and converting data, creating mappings from source tables to destination tables, and writing and loading the result data into a target database table.
Write SQL code to extract, transform, and load data ensuring compatibility with all tables and customer specifications.
Facilitate and monitor data warehouse performance.
Work with various levels of software developers to load data into the data warehouse and identify potential problem areas in the source system.
Actively pursue and recommend areas of improvement for data loading techniques and/or population order.
Work with internal business clients to problem solve data loading or integrity issues.
Collaborate with the data modeling team to understand, interpret, and implement data warehouse requirements.
Ensure metadata repository is accurate and updated regularly.
Perform data load monitoring, analysis, and resolution. Make recommendations regarding problem resolution.
Create, execute, and rearrange sessions; monitor load times of sessions; and rearrange processes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the loading process.

OTHER IMPORTANT DUTIES

Ensure stability of source target application.
Follow up with customers to ensure the data warehouse is meeting their specific demands in terms of analysis, content, presentation, and ease-of-use.

Reports to: Data Warehouse Technologies Manager

QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge
Working knowledge of Informatica, SQL, Oracle and/or similar tools.
Must have demonstrated working knowledge in Data Warehouse loading, tuning and maintenance.
Working knowledge of loading techniques for RDBMS.

Demonstrated skills using Informatica or related tools, with an ability to write SQL database queries.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Advanced analytical skills.
Must have the ability to multi-task and organize projects.
Ability to complete moderately complex data warehousing tasks independently.

  Experience
Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent work experience required.
Two to four years overall experience in Data Warehousing extracting, transforming and loading.
