Description:
The Calc Engine Analyst (CEA) is responsible for configuring and testing Hewitt's proprietary Calc Engine (CE) pension calculation system to meet the needs of our clients' requirements. Configuring involves using proprietary systems and tools to program the pension calculation system defined by analysis from the Calc Engine Systems Analyst (CE SA). Testing involves the preparation of test cases and systems testing in accordance with test plans.

Responsibilities include:
Systems Configuration: Programs Calc Engine system to meet analysis specifications
Documents relevant configuration in analysis specifications
Fixes any issues identified via test execution
Reads and understands Calc Engine Analysis specifications and Plan Provisions
Writes and maintains technical documentation on system specifications
Issue Resolution and Debugging
Identifies, researches, and evaluates issues and enhancements to provide effective solutions
Test Plan Execution
Completes system testing including the creation of detailed expected results and execution of test

Qualifications:
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's degree (with preferred concentrations in Math, Actuarial Science, Finance, Computer Science, Economics, MIS) or work experience required

Work Experience
12-18 months experience as a Programmer, Calculation Specialist, or Software Engineer

Technical Skills:
Ability to analyze, create, and debug basic code using Excel (or similar program)
Break down a complex problem into smaller, more manageable pieces, and be able to understand and describe the relationships between those pieces (i.e., basic analytical skills)
Interpret and understand conditional statements (i.e., If/Then/Else)
Apply basic System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles
Troubleshoot basic system defects and errors
Debug complex pension calculations in Excel spreadsheets
Use relational databases and various mainframe tools
