Desktop Packaging Engineer

High profile biotech/pharmaceutical company seeks Desktop Packaging Engineer with hands-on software installation packaging and related validation experience. Work as technical architect for workstation standardization.  Create software install packages for all applications to ensure installation procedures are consistent with 21 CFR Part 11 compliance. Validate & Qualify applications.  Determine operating and core application suite service packs and hot fix levels. Provide automated procedures and sop checklist for company Desktops. Evaluate and certify applications against the common client and other validated applications to determine compatibility. Repackage applications into silent installations using established SOP's. Assist in determining hardware configurations for Desktops, Laptops and Tablets and other approved hardware peripherals. Work with vendors to ensure awareness of end of life of current systems and thoroughly test new models in advance of that date.  Create and validate Common Client images and ensure proper documentation.  Assist other techs on creating packages and documentation to ensure 21 CFR Part 11compliance.  Assist in working with Business and other informatics personnel on packaged solutions and scripts.  Perform application conflict resolution. Create Marimba scripts, applications packages, and publish.  Validate IQS scripts and work with software owners to ensure proper QA steps for their application.  Knowledge in using Novell's NWAdmin and Microsoft's Active Directory Users and Computers. Knowledge of standard desktop concepts including TCP/IP settings. Provide Level III Client Support.  Great career opportunity! Salary 65-85K++ bonus and a great benefits package.

 

Requirements include: 3+ years experience as a Desktop Packaging / Workstation Engineer or equivalent working with FDA regulated systems (21 CFR Part 11), experience with the following software applications: Winbatch, SMS Installer Development, Repackaging software, MIS installer, MS Visual Studio, VM Ware, Winternals, Installsheild. Ghost imaging technology, Wise Package Studio and Marimba. Must be willing to work some weekends and do regional travel as necessary.
