Development Manager Database Services

Development manager of database services group will provide leadership, guidance and direct line management in the development of the data warehouse, business intelligence and database projects.   Development manager will manage the development process on projects from requirements to deployment, and must be able to facilitate communication between individuals of all sorts of backgrounds, including designers, developers, quality assurance, documentation and IT support. Responsibilities include leading project planning and kickoff sessions as well as working with the project lead to produce work estimates and timeframes for development tasks. This role will optimize resource utilization and help evolve hiring plans. You will also be assisting developers in creating and implementing project architecture. Duties include ensuring quality of software through standards enforcement, peer code review and automated tools. This position will manage and review specifications, technical plans, and progress from developers. The candidate must be able to take a creative approach to technical architecture and business problem solutions. The manager will also be responsible for developing automated database solutions to business problems and the methods for utilizing the solutions developed.

 Major Accountabilities:
Participates with clients, internal and external development organizations to define software requirements for development, maintenance and/or improvements
Manage and participate in the design and documenting of database diagrams, logic charts and programming specifications as required by Cendant Life cycle development methodology.
Manage the development of programs based upon Design Documents
Review and approve test plans and test data for use during the QA process
Adjusts programs to accommodate errors and change requests
Recommends and implement methods to improve software performance
Development, implementation and usage of database services within the organization
Management, tracking and reporting of all efforts for the development staff
Develop and manage the project and resource plans for multiple projectsCore Competencies:

? Knowledgeable of Hospitality industry development projects, specifically hotel 

? Knowledgeable with both Entity Relational Models, and Dimensional Models.

? Knowledge of SQL

? Understands the ETL Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools and their use and maintains a working knowledge of the Business Intelligence (BI, OLAP, ROLAP) tools.

? Understands business issues and requirements as well as database technology

? Knowledge of  Informatica PowerCenter ETL tool, and Erwin Data Modeling tool. 

? Ability to develop and manage an effective team environment

? Focus equally on financial excellence, customer satisfaction, and workplace quality

? Manage the completion of team's work to the expected standards (quality, cost, schedule, behavior)

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
3 years Management experience
Knowledge of  SQL server
Knowledge of Windows 2000
Knowledge of IBM DB2 EEE & DB2EE version 8.1
Knowledge of  IBM AIX operating system
Informix knowledge a preferred
Informatica PowerCenter experience preferred
Sybase Database knowledge a plus
Knowledge of Entity Relational Models and Dimensional Models
Knowledge of SQL
Understands business issues and requirements as well as database technology
Ability to manage and report a team environment effectively
TIBCO and middleware services technology
Knowledge of NIKU tools.
