The Director, Project & Release Management at Kaiser Permanente will be responsible for the predictable delivery of all projects within the Business Infrastructure portfolio, as well as effective collaboration with the Business Infrastructure Information Officer and business area partnership team. This individual will ensure strong leadership and development of the P&RM team to meet the needs of Business Infrastructure portfolio projects and the increasing emphasis on project management best practices.

As a Director, Project & Release Management you will work effectively across the software development lifecycle and the various KP-IT groups supporting it; partner with leaders of mega-programs funded out of the Business Infrastructure portfolio and with directors of P&RM to ensure consistency of practice and seamless integration; collaborate with peers in the P&RM organization and across KP-IT to continuously develop and implement new project management practices; and actively review and improve on current practices. You will also be accountable for developing your staff to execute projects successfully; work with the Business Infrastructure Business Area Partnership team to identify critical domain knowledge for delivering on business strategies; recruit for and develop people with the needed capabilities; and ensure that all staff members are certified through the KP-IT Project Management Academy. You must consult with business leaders regarding overall project approach, accountabilities and leadership structure required on new initiatives; work with both business and KP-IT leaders to define the appropriate roles and responsibilities for the effort; ensure portfolio project leadership is aligned with KP-IT?s model across the Service Delivery organization; and ensure project deliverables meet the standards for the successful implementation of the project. Additionally you must provide ongoing support for the application/business process; ensure projects follow good financial practices and costs are forecast with increasing predictability; ensure resources on projects are sourced appropriately based on the balance of needs including cost, speed of acquisition and strategic organizational development; manage resource supply and demand proactively, working with partners across IT; and lead the Business Infrastructure P&RM team through organizational change, as required.

Requirements for this position include strong and proven IT business leadership experience with the demonstrated ability to drive business value through technology across the project lifecycle; 10+ years of leadership experience, including at least 5 in an executive leadership position. 10+ years of experience delivering technology solutions to business problems with roles of increasing responsibility leadership and success in the coordination of multiple projects. You should also possess a solid track record of developing and leading teams, with success in the coaching and mentoring of staff; and an undergraduate degree in a technical discipline, ideally computer science, MIS or business.

Preferred requirements include health care/health insurance industry experience and an advanced degree.
