Director of IT

The Director of Information Technology will develop strategic technology plans, manage application development efforts, oversees and attends to the daily technology infrastructure and end-user needs of the BELL organization.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

? Hardware Infrastructure Implementation/Support:  In partnership with external service providers (outsourcers), manage BELL?s help desk personnel who provide 1st and 2nd level hands-on support of BELL?s desktops, servers and peripheral devices, and provide level 3 support to the organization directly.  Support activities would include hardware installation, software installation/upgrades and problem diagnosis/resolution.  Supported software would include internally developed as well as third-party applications.

? Telecommunications Infrastructure Implementation/Support:  Serve as the overall coordinator, primary point of vendor contact and internal expert for all telecommunications infrastructure maintenance and expansion initiatives.  Telecommunication components would include BELL?s LAN, WAN, VPN and office telephone system.

? End-User Support:  Provide frontline support of BELL?s technology end-user community both personally and throughout the IT team.  Responsibilities include application training, helpdesk services, problem logging/tracking/dispatch/status reporting and system access/security administration (Active Directory).

? Vendor Management: Perform vendor management services for all technology product/service providers including hardware/software/services procurement, license management, invoice review/approval and contract administration (monitoring and review of expiration/renewal milestones). 

? Project Management:  Perform periodic technology project management tasks including work plan development, resource planning, progress reporting, scope/change management, issue tracking/escalation/resolution, status reporting and project post mortem reviews.

? Application Development: Manage and support the ongoing software applications development process by performing business/systems analysis, application testing/quality assurance and end-user reporting (MS SQL, Excel, Lotus Notes custom views).

? Staff Management: manage a staff of 5-8 in all regions.



 

Qualifications:

 

College degree with a minimum of 10 years of detailed/hands-on IT support and project management experience.  Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems.  Extensive knowledge and experience in working with the Microsoft Office product suite.  Lotus Notes development experience and relational database (MS SQL Server) design, development, administration and query skills required.  Extensive experience managing technology vendor relationships.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.
