 Location: San Francisco, Financial District

 

MarketTools Inc. is seeking a ?Director of Technology ? Portal? who will lead and manage the Portal product team.  The ?Director of Technology ? Portal? will manage engineering priorities, including planning and execution to achieve the company?s business objectives for the Portal business team.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

? Work with the Portal development team and the Product Management team to define product opportunities, establish technical strategy, develop product roadmap, and execute product development and delivery plans

? Manage the development process to meet business objectives in a dynamic industry

? Oversee the functional definition, development, and scheduling of all Portal engineering projects

? Attract, select, coach and motivate a world-class development team

? Set and achieve product quality standards for all Portal projects

? Set development priorities and ensure timely product delivery

? Proactively recommend courses of action to maintain cost effectiveness, competitiveness, system stability, security, scalability and reliability

? Responsible to develop, maintain, and adhere to financial goals and objectives

? Ensure the cooperation and coordination between other departments.

? Utilize customer feedback, cost analysis, personal involvement with customers and partners to reduce costs, improve the performance and enhance the marketability of the Portal product.

? Provide technical leadership in solving engineering problems

? Ensure that up-to-date documentation of our systems and processes is maintained

 

Requirements:

 

? The ideal candidate will have more than 10 years of professional experience developing and delivering world-class software products with a proven track record of successfully building and delivering complex products involving multiple engineering disciplines

? Minimum 4 years experience at the Manager or Director level in a development organization

? 4+ years of experience in building Internet applications ? B2C application experience a plus

? Demonstrated ability to manage teams of 15+ engineers through software development processes and lifecycles for large-scale products and projects

? Experience with building, motivating, and mentoring a development team

? Optional - demonstrated success managing offshore development teams

? Passion for delivering high quality products

? Driven to achieve a high level of client and customer satisfaction

? Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

? Experience with high-transaction volume, 24x7 availability production environments

? Management experience of web application architecture, enterprise software architecture, and web development technologies including J2EE, Java, .NET and SQL databases

? Ability to analyze and understand complex workflows and processes, and develop innovative approaches to streamlining and automating them

? Organized and detail oriented. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to resolve scheduling and other conflicts in order to meet all deadlines
