Directory Services Engineer for a GLOBAL Firm

Our client is a world leading full service media investment management operation, a truly global firm with over 13,000 employees across the globe.





Job Overview:

This position will be a member of the Global Systems Design and Architecture team. This individual will work closely under the supervision of the Directory Services Manager to maintain the corporate AD architecture and design, which consists of 250 domain controllers in more than 150 sites and 13,500 users. In addition to assisting with documenting, publishing, communicating, and enforcing global standards for the corporate Active Directory, this person will be responsible for managing several Directory-related projects, including PKI, R2 upgrade, global monitoring and auditing, patch management, group policy management, etc.



A successful candidate should have 5-7 years of experience supporting a global Active Directory infrastructure. He or she will have a solid understanding of user/account management, group policies, authentication protocols (Kerberos, NTLM), Windows 2003 operating system best practices, FSMO roles and DNS. The ideal candidate will also have VB scripting skills. Software packaging experience using Wise or InstallShield is a plus.



Candidates should have solid project management skills, as well as good verbal and written communication skills. Candidates should be highly motivated, able to work independently and in a team environment, and be able to adapt to changing business priorities.





Job Responsibilities:

- Work closely with the Global Directory Services Manager to define, document, publish, communicate and enforce Active Directory standards, policies and procedures.

- Provide 3rd level support for Active Directory to the regionally based Implementation and Operations (I&O) teams.

- Work with the regional I & O teams to coordinate the timely installation of all required hotfixes/patches on corporate Active Directory domain controllers.

- Work with the Security Manager and Compliance Director to define, implement, and report on required auditable events on corporate domain controllers and enterprise file servers using NetPro Change Auditor.

- Automate Active Directory tasks through scripting.

- Diagnose and troubleshoot Active Directory-related issues (i.e., replication, name resolution) using Microsoft-approved tools and utilities.

- Provide solutions to local, regional, or global requirements by creating, testing, and coordinating the implementation of Group Policy objects.

- Interface with the Global Applications team to create and support proprietary applications which utilize Active Directory as a primary method of authentication.

- Keep current on emerging technologies and make recommendations when applicable.

- Manage various global Active Directory-related projects.



Job / Educational Requirements:

While every effort will be made to respect the employees privacy and personal time, the position will require the candidate to perform maintenance as well as respond to critical situations after normal business hours or during weekends (Saturday or Sunday). A mobile phone for use in critical situations will also be necessary and is expected to be reachable upon being called.

Must have 5+ years of experience with:

- Windows 2003 Active Directory in a global environment (R2 a plus)

- Windows 2000/2003 operating system support

- Active Directory-enabled DNS

- Group Policy creation and management

- WSUS and/or Patchlink

- Data import utilities such as LDIF, CSVDE, etc

- VB scripting skills a plus

- Software packaging using Wise or Installshield a plus



In addition, candidate must possess the following:

- Excellent troubleshooting skills and analytical ability

- Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Visio

- Solid project management skills

- Excellent customer communication skills

- Flexible schedule to accommodate for travel to other locations for IT staff meetings, training and/or assist with projects

- Ability to test and introduce new utilities to help the environment

- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work for self and/or small team independently

- Ability to resolve complex problems seeking guidance when necessary

- Be able to travel internationally and hold a valid passport



Education Requirements

- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college

- MCSE or equivalent work experience
