E-COMMERCE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR/DEVELOPER

The Database Administrator/Developer will participate in the production, operations and maintenance of high-profile e-commerce Internet sites. As an integral member of the Online Properties Department, their responsibilities will be quite varied and unique; a flexible, positive attitude will be essential. Multi-tasking and the ability to handle a wide variety of assignments very quickly will be vital.

 

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the architectural and environmental aspects of all e-commerce databases and related applications utilized by Sports Endeavors. These include the Microsoft SQL Server 2000, and MySQL databases, as well as related technologies such as DTS, Stored Procedures, and Ascential Datastage ETL tools. Duties will include:

 

Design and development of new schema based on project requirements

Recoverability - maintaining backups, preparation and execution of disaster recovery

Integrity ? managing and verifying data integrity

Security - defining and implementing controlled access to the data

Availability - ensuring maximum uptime

Performance analysis, tuning and optimization - ensuring maximum performance given budgetary constraints

Development and testing support ? assisting and guiding developers in efficient usage of the databases

Integration with internal systems- cooperative sharing of information and data with IBM Universe database and SQL Server used in enterprise fulfillment system

SQL Clustering installation
Query Analysis & Profiling
Reporting Services, Data Mining & Warehousing with SQL Server

 

Previous experience of two years in core requirements is preferred. Exposure to PHP, Java and other web site development tools or languages is desirable. Solid oral/written communications skills will be considered an asset.
