RESPONSIBILITIES: Senior Enterprise Storage Architect - Research, plan, install, test, evaluate and maintain mainframe storage environments. Responsible for research and planning for the implementation of new mainframe hardware and software. Capacity planning and performance tuning of mainframe storage hardware. Direct and coordinate installation, testing and maintenance activities for mainframe storage hardware. Create and maintain project plans and reports status on projects to manager weekly. Solve mainframe storage systems problems. Mentor and supervise junior staff members. Participate in new implementations (off shift) as required. Create and document new storage management processes and configuration diagrams
REQUIREMENTS: Solid understanding of MVS principles, subsystem, concepts and commands. MVS System Programmer experience with understanding of storage management concepts and tools, SMS and the principles of coding ACS routines. Experience and strong understanding of Storage Management products such as CA-Disk, HSM, DFDSS, FDR, CA-Vantage, ASTEX, Omegamon, RMF, HSC, EXLM, TMS, PAI/O, TDMF. Demonstrated experience in the principles of DASD performance, including Channel and Directors, both ESCON and FICON characteristics and attributes, LCU, DEVICE, HDA, SRDF write impacts and CACHE. Strong understanding of data types and access method such as ISAM, VSAM, QSAM, etc. Strong understanding of EMC Storage Subsystem architecture, such as, interfaces, limits and performance characteristics, internal HDA layouts, PAV, Dynamic PAV and WLM interface and device types. Experience with Configuration Management. Understanding of Tape and Virtual Tape subsystems, mainly STK hardware, performance thresholds, configuration and characteristics. Strong skills with MXG, MICS, SMF and RMF especially, Types 73, 74, and 42. Strong SAS programming skills, understanding the concept of SAS datasets and data elements. Determine what elements are important from a storage perspective and the ability to recommend changes based on statistical analysis Experience with Capacity Planning and how it applies to storage components. Strong skills with trending performance data on storage subsystems, measuring performance on new subsystems and forecasting.
