ETL Specialist (MMP)Position Description

Designs and constructs relational databases and may assist in advising on technical strategy for database product. Performs advanced engineering of the architecture of systems and provides technical expertise to database administrators and applications developers. Analyzes needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications which may require research and analysis. May coordinate new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing warehouse structure. May review business requests for data and data usage, researches data sources for new and better data feeds. May create standards and/or do modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance. May assist in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality. May develop data modeling and may be responsible for data acquisition and access analysis and design; and archive, recovery, and load strategy design and implementation. Provides technical leadership for development of database product, including database design, technical code design, software management and technical standards for multiple hardware platforms.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
Education/Training ? 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience

Business Experience:
8+ years conducting data analysis and implementing, designing and deploying ETL solutions for commercial clients
Specialized knowledge of data analysis for relational databases
Specialized knowledge of database design, modeling and planning
Specialized knowledge of ETL technology and implementation

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
Expert in conducting data analysis and implementing, designing and deploying ETL solutions for commercial clients. IBM DataStage (formerly Ascential DataStage) experience highly desirable.
Experience using data cleansing, data quality, or GIS experience.
Experience managing and maintaining meta-data
Logging success, failure and progress of data loading jobs.
Cataloging definitions, calculations and origins of data.
Demonstrated experience with managing data mart projects.
Experience working with large customer databases and data marts
Commercial experience with distributed computing environments, database-tuning methodologies, naming conventions, extraction, transformation and query methodologies.
Lead the implementation of installation and configuration (Ascential Product suite) in development, testing, performance and production environments
Design and code the ETL logic using DataStage to enable initial load and incremental processing, error and exception handling, restartability and recovery, data cleansing, validation and monitoring.
Participate in test plan creation and the testing process
Ability to work with business users, BSA?s, software and data architects to gather and clarify requirements
Lead initiatives to adhere to and drive ETL standards & processes within the organization and project
Lead performance tuning activities for developed ETL functions
Experience working with Oracle 10g and Microsoft SQL Server databases
Experience monitoring, mentoring and reviewing the work of outside consultants and vendors and working collaboratively to analyze data requirements and design data architectures and solve technical problems
Excellent organizational and workflow skills; ability to work on simultaneous projects with diverse working groups

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced database modeling and experience with ERD tools such as ERWin or ER-Studio
Expert, commercial, hands-on experience in relational database, warehouse and data mart architecture (Oracle, MSS, DB2), data modeling, database design, (logical, physical)
Advanced knowledge of data warehousing technologies and methodologies, BI/ETL tools and OLAP experience.
