Enterprise Applications Database Administrator

SUMMARY: The  Enterprise Applications Database Administrator is responsible for the management of database management systems and applications while assuring smooth ongoing operations.  They may also be required to act as project manager for small projects.

 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

 

? Installation and upgrading the database management system

? Installation and upgrading of company applications

? Allocate system storage and plan future storage requirements

? Create/modify the database structure

? Control access to the database

? Monitor and optimize the database performance

? Database backup and recovery

? Provide input for possible process improvement

? Other duties may be assigned

? Have knowledge of relational database systems in general.

? Has good working knowledge of the following:

o  Installations, patching, upgrades and day-to-day administration of both SQL Server and Oracle database systems as well as installations, patching, and upgrades of Oracle, Siebel or Agile applications.

o  Microsoft Sharepoint Services and Microsoft Analysis Services

o  Database tools including (but not limited to) SQL Server Enterprise Manager and Oracle?s Enterprise Manager.

o  at least two is required:  Siebel, Oracle or Agile.

? Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical employees

? Performs well independently or as a contributing member of a team



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Computer Science, or a related discipline, and at least four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Has 2+ years experience with Microsoft Sharepoint Services and Microsoft Analysis Services, day-to-day management of both SQL Server and Oracle relational database systems, and database tools including (but not limited to) SQL Server Enterprise Manager and Oracle?s Enterprise Manager.  Has assisted in or performed installations, patching, and upgrades of both SQL Server and Oracle database systems.

 

Has assisted in or performed installations, patching, and upgrades of Agile Applications or similar experience with Oracle and Siebel applications is highly desirable.

 

Experience with at least one is required:  Siebel, Oracle or Agile.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

REASONING ABILITY:



Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
