Enterprise J2EE Architect

Reporting to the Director of Architecture & Performance, the Senior J2EE Architect will join a team of versatile architects providing technical leadership to the organization in the areas of software frameworks and architecture, infrastructure architecture, middleware architecture and UI architecture. This senior architect will collaborate with all teams within IT to implement BPM architecture, influence design and architecture decisions in other areas like application integration. This person contributes and participates in the design, validation and implementation of a rules engine that will guide and help with the implementation of the Business Process Re-Engineering effort; contributes and participates in the design, development and implementation of services/adapters that will form an integration framework for applications integrating with the rules-engine like Pega; and will work with the architecture team to define and implement an architecture road-map. This person will participate in design reviews and lead design/architecture reviews where appropriate; work with the architecture team to design a middle-ware architecture using WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Message Queue Manager and WebSphere MQ Integration Broker; and conduct brown-bag sessions to communicate architecture guidelines and standards. This person will assist in definition and management of standards, guidelines and processes for technology and software development; collaborate with stake-holders to conduct and demonstrate proof-of-concepts for new products and architectures; and will be responsible to stay engaged with multiple projects and provide architectural/design oversight for application projects.

The Senior J2EE architect is expected to have general expertise in enterprise architecture (DB, middleware, UI, infrastructure), with a focus on J2EE application server and messaging architecture. The candidate is also expected to have some experience with rules engines like Rules-Power, Pega, Saviion etc. This person must have the ability to articulate ideas and architectural concepts through verbal and written communication and the ability to wear many hats using skill versatility and help multiple projects proceed expeditiously. 7-10 years of experience in the areas of design, development and application architecture including WebSphere application server, MQ Series and MQ Broker are required. Strong Java programming skills and experience designing end-to-end J2EE applications, strong PL/SQL skills and experience designing applications with optimal use of Oracle, and strong design skills in the areas of database connectivity especially with the use of thin, thick drivers and XA drivers are required. 5+ years of Java & J2EE application architecture experience is necessary. Strong skills in the areas of XML, Soap, UDDI, WSDL is necessary. Experience implementing HA and DR solutions using J2EE containers are a plus. Other versatile skills in the areas of UI architecture, infrastructure architecture is a plus.
