Enterprise/Lead Database Architect

We have an immediate need for an Enterprise/Lead Database Architect

 

Summary



 

The lead database architect will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of distributed database architecture spanning multiple platforms and projects.  As a lead the candidate will be responsible for the database architecture and design of all projects being executed by the Tampa, FL and other remote project teams.  Also responsible for leading the implementation of reusable business analytic applications, information delivery services and data management capabilities that can be sold in today?s marketplace.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

? Specifies best practices and leads the design and implementation of large scale and highly distributed OLTP databases.

? Defines object-to-relational data access strategies and implementation in a distributed object-oriented environment.

? Identifies and recommends opportunities for sharing information across products.

? Collaborates with senior IT leadership teams and architects to design and implement highly extensible data access services and reusing of software business services and information via implementation of reusable and/or extensible data access services.

? Acts as facilitator between architects and developers and lead the design and construction of Information Architecture suitable for high volume 7x24 claims processing systems

? Participates in JAD sessions to derive at a business object model that will be used to create the necessary database designs OLTP and BI applications.

? Leads the creation of data test bed that will be used  by data-driven automated test cases to test multiple products

? Ensure that the Information Architecture models and designs are practical for implementation and are devoid of implementation detail while capturing all the essential data access services required by the business activity.

? Helps bridge the communication gap between the data consumers and data providers by defining a common information management terminology based on core business concepts. 

? Additional design responsibilities include evaluating design alternatives and recommending the most appropriate solution. Design alternatives are evaluated based on requirements, development cost, reusability, runtime performance, software complexity, and change flexibility

? Responsible for developing reusable and/or extensible data access solutions

? Daily software development activities can include building new OLTP and BI databases, integrating databases across multiple systems, or integrating with commercial off-the-shelf software (COTS) packages.

? Responsible for following project standards for source code documentation and development environment.

? Other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Will be responsible for leading at least three production and application database administrators



 

Qualifications:

At least 12 years experience architecting, designing and building large scale database solutions for distributed object-oriented OLTP system and Business Intelligence solutions (including data mining).  Proven experience in leading development teams with a minimum of five members.  Must have good customer facing skills and have natural ability to recognize product integration opportunities.  Ability to create project plan as well as produce project cost estimate based upon customer requirements.  Demonstrated capacity to work within multiple software development life cycle using processes such as agile, extreme programming, RUP and architecture-oriented.  Must have knowledge of UML modeling and several object-to-relational mapping strategies along with the performance trade-offs of each. Must also have knowledge of/experience in:Multiple SQL programming languages for different databases such as Oracle, UDB, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, etc. Must be proficient with or an expert in Oracle version 10 or higherDesign, create and implement persistence mechanisms layer using Java in conjunction with middleware tools such as TopLink and HibernateJ2EE architecture and SOA implementation best practicesDatabase replication/synchronization techniques High availability systems 24 x 7 systems performance trade-offs with JDBC drivers use of tools such as System Architect, ERWIN, LBMS for logical and physical data modeling, reverse engineeringload balancing with database servers database concurrency solutions large distributed data replication and synchronization solutionsExperience in designing large databases for claims processing of EDI x12 transactions (835, 837, etc.) is highly desirable

Helpful skillsexperience with TP-monitorsETL tools such as InformaticaJ2EE Application servers such as WebLogic, WebSphere and OASMicrosoft .NET
