Field Distribution Automation Specialist

Job Requirements:
Candidates must have a Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education training, and experience in wireless communications. The candidate must have three to five years of experience in telecommunications network implementation including knowledge in RF propagation principles and applications. He/she must possess basic knowledge of field construction principles and standards and familiarity with SCEs distribution network and electrical power grid operations. The candidate must demonstrate the experience performing technical analysis and excellent conceptual, analytical and problem- solving skills. He/she must have good oral and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to work effectively and interface with technical and non-technical audience, including peers, clients, management, and vendors. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a ability to plan, organize, prioritize, schedule, coordinate, and manage multiple projects or assignments with minimal supervision. The candidate must be able to adjust to changing priorities and assignments. This person must possess the ability to work well both independently and in team settings. Computer literacy requirements include working knowledge of Windows XP, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Projects. The candidate must have a valid drivers license and insurance, as the position requires travel throughout Edisons service territory.

 

Preferences:
UtiliNet radio network experience is a plus.

 

Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate for this position will report to the Manager of NetComm Engineering in the IT Telecommunication Services group. He/she will interface with engineering, management, and clients to implement the additions to Edisons internal telecommunications network for company operations. This involves implementation of the network architecture by deploying recommended products and technologies as well as utilization of existing networking and security infrastructure, to the highest potential with emphasis on operation performance and availability. The candidate will perform field evaluation of planned repeater sites to ensure connectivity to intended end device and existing network infrastructure and will verify proposed structure will meet current construction standards. This position will be assigned to SCEs northern/western service territory and will require extensive driving, including off road, and extended overnight stays.
