GIS Analyst - 4480

NAVTEQ data is used in virtually all of the leading navigation systems in both North America and Europe. Our customers rely on NAVTEQ digital map information for use in their applications based on its accuracy, detail and completeness.

 

We are currently looking for a GIS Specialist (4480) in Chicago, IL.

 

Principal Duties:

The GIS specialist will be responsible for the spatial and temporal analysis of dynamic and static data sets with the expectation that they will be able to propose and challenge value hypotheses regarding the suitability of existing or derivative processed datasets for use in conjunction with existing NAVTEQ products.  They will develop prototype derivative datasets, define testing parameters, develop maintain and run production grade processes, supporting their transition from theoretical datasets to commercial products.

 

This position is focused on entirely theoretical projects where the value of the products need to be proposed and tested before they become commercial projects, the ideal candidate will need to serve in a capacity as ? a thought leader? in the development of new products.

 

Job Specification:Implement geospatial technology into existing processes to increase efficiency and document on-going processes.Value statement hypothesis generation and testing for new datasets envisioned providing entirely new types of functionality for location and time based applications.Provide training and documentation of implemented GIS technology to Traffic Data Specialist.Develop prototype derivative data sets, map views and finished cartographic quality deliveries.Demonstration of mastery of GIS and other data manipulation skills in order to utilize and recommend the most effective tool for completion of tasks.Managing Projects that include costing, scheduling, planning, monitoring and delegating tasks in order for successful completion.Development of graphics, reports and other such summary and visualization tools for traffic relevant data including but not limited NT map coverage, NT traffic service coverage, traffic location placement and event frequency.Other development and maintenance projects as directed by NT Project Managers.

 

 

Requirements:University degree or other related field or relevant business experience, GIS degree and/or accredited GIS Certificate.Required a minimum of 5 years working experience utilizing the ESRI suite of software in creating geo-spatial data and mapsVisual basic programming experienceOther programming and data analysis skills strongly preferredStrong creative approach to solving entirely new data processing problems with limited guidanceProficient in Microsoft Office Excel and Access Formulas.  Excellent analytical and problem solving skillsExcellent oral and written communications skills
