General Manager, Network Engineering

 

APM Terminals North America is part of the global terminal operating arm of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. As the world?s third largest terminal operator, APM Terminals has container handling operations at over 40 terminals worldwide including 13 in North America. Right now, as we greatly expand our operations in Portsmouth, VA, we are seeking an experienced IT professional to implement continuous improvement processes to facilitate on-going ?best practice? operations.

 

Your responsibilities will include participating in the creation of the overall IT strategy for the terminal; proposing, planning and executing projects to maintain and enhance the terminal?s network infrastructure; implementing and auditing state-of-the-art systems to ensure that all network points of access (wired & wireless) comply with security and antivirus policies; and preparing and managing capital spending and expense budgets. You?ll also be expected to troubleshoot problems during normal and extended business hours, participate in staff development, and implement processes to support North American and Global IT standards and initiatives.

 

The position requires a Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, a minimum of 11 years of network engineering experience, and at least 3-5 years of project management background. Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and experience with staff training and development. CISCO, MCSE CHECKPOINT & CompTIA certifications are required.
