Job Description:



The Global Enterprise Data Architect performs the necessary analysis and design tasks related to the development of a global Enterprise Data Architecture aligned with a set of technology competencies. The incumbent is accountable for constructing information models to meet business requirements. This position is also responsible for over data architecture, balancing optimization of data access with resource utilization factors.



This is a visionary position that oversees the integration of solutions, develops new business opportunities and builds relationships with Raytheon business units / functional sponsors and customers. The individual in this position is knowledgeable in all aspects of strategically designing and constructing global enterprise-wide data architectures that enable the strategic growth and capability plans for the enterprise.



This position will be responsible for final decisions on data architecture decisions and operational issues that affect data technology. These decisions will have an impact on the near and long term success or failure of Enterprise Architecture and the objectives of Raytheon?s IT Technology Strategy.



Responsibilities include:

- Will be the principal spokesperson within the global enterprise IT function for the Enterprise Architecture function in regards to strategic data direction.

- Activities include creation of technology roadmaps & data architectures, establishing technology directions and determining architectural approaches;

- Works closely with business partners and technologists to ensure the ongoing evolution and success of the architecture;

- Coordinate and collaborate with enterprise architects, systems architects, data architects and project teams;

- Will assist with the development of the overall enterprise-wide technical architecture and Raytheon?s IT Strategy;



- Document the current data architecture, define the future data architecture, and develop strategies and transition plans to migrate to the future architecture;

- Evaluate the compliance of proposed technologies with standards;

- Development and maintenance of the architectural principles for the domains that will govern future architecture;

- Support and consult on architecture issues with projects and project teams;

- Researching technologies, packages, products and vendors for potential use at Raytheon;

- Be the custodian of all data present in relational, XML, or other environments;

- Ensure that the organization?s information resource is managed in accordance with group information policy and information governance structures as well as information architecture and structures;

- Understand the vision, goals and critical success factors, and other performance measures of the organization in order to ensure that information is made available to support these;

- Understanding where and how information is being used, consolidated, and manipulated at present and identifying deficiencies or problems in the data and information in order to remedy these deficiencies;

- Developing a rigorous set of models for how the data is to be structured and used to ensure that transaction processing is efficient and effective and that information to support decision making is readily available;

- Ensuring that these information models are flexible enough to easily adjust to meet changing business needs;

- Assist in the definition, design, and implementation of group information governance and architecture policy and structures;

- Ensure that consistent definitions of information and data exist (including definitions for usage, derivation, consolidation, and calculation) and that these are used, understood, and adhered to within the organization;

- Manage the ways in which data and information are used and produced in the organization, ensuring that information governance and architecture policy and structures are not compromised in any way;

- Analyze business change drivers to determine business, information, solution, and information technology requirements;

- Understand, define, advocate, and augment the principles of information technology strategies;
