Technical Writer, Google.com - Mountain View

This position is based in Mountain View, CA.

The Google.com engineering group is looking for experienced Technical Writers, to document topics relating to Google.com production services and operations. You will work closely with your engineering team, documenting tools and processes, helping to capture group knowledge, and communicating domain information to a variety of internal audiences. We're looking for adaptable writers who learn
quickly, communicate clearly, and enjoy working with smart engineers and complex technology.

Responsibilities:
Write software documentation for internal audiences, including "How To" guides, reference material, technical overviews,
architecture overviews, troubleshooting and emergency procedures, and more.
Organize existing documents, identify documentation holes, and spearhead efforts to fill them in.
Work with engineers to help them produce useful documentation.
Help to define and communicate internal policies and procedures.
The most successful candidates will possess:
Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
Ability to create and produce useful, high-quality diagrams.
Experience with coding or scripting in any language.
Focused experience in one (or more) of the following areas:
Networking, particularly in a unix-based environment.
Large-scale web-based applications.
Cluster computing environments.
Search or ads systems.
Hands-on system administration or network admin experience.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or higher.
Substantial experience with writing for highly technical audiences, such as developers or senior sysadmins.
Ability to read source code in languages such as Java or C++.
A minimum of five years experience as a technical writer.
You will be asked to provide writing samples.
