Position Description:

Global Downstream Services is accepting online applications for the position of Hawaii Server Administrator (0608-50162597) located in Kapolei, Oahu through August 25, 2006.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position will be part of a small team providing IT support for the Chevron refinery at Kapolei, Oahu. The primary goals of the team are to ensure network and application availability, provide trouble-shooting and problem resolution, and coordinate and implement Global Refinery initiatives and applications at Hawaii. Team members may develop and support local applications, reports, and metrics.

This position will focus on:
-Network (Process Control and office) administration
-Back up and recovery of application servers
-Information protection/ security of networks
-Assist other team-members, IT and Process Control, as needed. Cross-train to provide greater support flexibility.


Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Server Administration ? Candidate must have experience managing multiple Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 servers. Must have documented experience monitoring & troubleshooting Windows 2000/2003 server software & hardware. Documentation must include experience in planning & implementing Windows 2000/2003 software upgrades as well as experience with building, upgrading, & troubleshooting server hardware. Familiarity with Active Directory helpful. Experience with HP server hardware desired. MCSE a plus.

Network Communication Technology - Has demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP networking. Experience working with DHCP, DNS & WINS & can apply them to the refinery network to solve problems & create better networking.

Backups - Has experience performing system backups & restores in a multi-server environment.

Networking Hardware -Has demonstrated working knowledge of networking hardware (hubs, switches, etc.) and can use tools to monitor & troubleshoot LAN problems. Experience with CISCO switches a plus.

Communications - Candidate must have experience in writing technical documentation. Must have experience maintaining good documentation on system updates / changes / procedures. Must be a good listener. Must have experience giving presentations and training others.

Team Work ? Desirable to have experience working in a self-directed work team. Must be a team player and be able to work with all groups comfortably and be able to get group results. Patient with peers and others, and be open to suggestions from peers and others. Must be dependable and willing to play any role required to support the team.

Initiative/adaptability ? Must be able to work independently and demonstrate individual initiative. Must be able to make good decisions and follow through on them. Must be able to handle multiple jobs (not all the same flavor); have a willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new areas.

- At least 5 years of experience in the Information Technology field is required. Experience supporting LAN/servers in a Refinery or process plant is desired. Experience with real-time monitoring and/or control system support is a plus.

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- Bachelor?s degree in Information Technology is preferred.
- In lieu of formal degree, Computer Science (IT)/MIS degree or industry certification (i.e. such as Microsoft Certified System Engineer) or equivalent industry experience is required.
- This position is on a career ladder and is in a self-directed work group. All work is done in a production environment with system uptime a critical consideration. Periodic after hour?s work required to cover special needs and routine system maintenance. This job requires some lifting & transporting of computer equipment (45 lbs) throughout the refinery. Some travel required (5%). Must be safety conscious.
