Helpdesk Network Engineer

This position is located on customer site at the CSX Railroad Data Center in Jacksonville FL. Responsible for Network Management support of complex and diverse networks and shift lead duties. Identifies major malfunctions within the managed networks, utilizes technical experience to isolate problems while coordinating with all organizations involved for restoring customer services. Implements complex solutions by configuring routers, switches, and other systems installed on the network. Provides technical reports to management as required. The Network management of the CSX Railroad is a 24X7 operation and employee will be expected to work any of the Day, Swing or Mid shifts including weekends and Holidays.

 

Job Qualifications/Required Skills:

 

The position demands a high level of attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, strong communications skills (written and oral) and strong technical documentation skills. Should be experienced in trouble shooting and providing technical support on CISCO network routers and switches, TCP/IP protocols, digital/analogue circuits, SNA devices, very small aperture terminals (VSATs), and other communications technologies implemented in the networks. Should be familiar with the use of PC's, email, MS Office Suite, Visio and other software that may be required in the performance of duties. Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Information technology or 10 years of equivalent experience is preferred.
