I.T. Project Development Coordinator

$38,818 - $75,000 (maximum salary that can be considered) 

 

Are you tired of working those 60 to 80 hour work weeks and long to have a life to enjoy your personal interests, while contributing to the well being of others?  The Department of Economic Security, Division of Technology Services is recruiting for this Project Development Coordinator within the Systems and Programming Administration.  DES is a diverse social services agency and the successful individual for this position will be contributing to the departments success and client well-being through it?s business systems.

This position will work independently and be responsible for providing project management expertise and process support to reduce project risk by achieving efficient project time, cost and resource management through decision making based on consolidated, aggregated project, time, cost and resource management data (executive dashboard) for the S&P Organization.  Will serve as the central intake function for all requests for new application builds and will be directly engaged in establishing, providing ?best practice? processes, implementing and/or supporting established and new project management methodologies, tools, and standards. Specific areas of responsibility are managing, developing and/or implementing the project prioritization process, project tracking and auditing, project reporting, project management tools, project management standards, monitoring of resource management, project change management, project management training and help desk functions and managing the executive dashboard of the on-going S&P projects. This position will also ensure the electronic documentation library is maintained for all S&P projects.  In addition, this position will work with the training coordinator to insure that a skill inventory of S&P personnel is managed.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) :

Senior  Expert level KSAs are required for this position;

 

Knowledge of;   project management, control and system development life cycle methodology; Microsoft Project 2003 or above or similar Project Management software tools; products, principles, techniques and procedures in the design and development of applications systems; effective leadership principles and of modern organization and management practices; networking and database systems; statistics; budget procedures.

Skills: to negotiate project milestones, assignments and responsibilities; organizational skills to work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects; 

Ability to: work independently and be frequently self directed taking initiative to resolve issues;  build relationships and influence other functional areas; assess impacts of proposed automation projects; supervise planning of project tasks; apply standardized application development methodologies; change assignment focus due to changing priorities. 
Skills and abilities to; effectively provide direct ion and project management expertise to staff in their application development projects: express technical information in oral and written form to technical and non-technical personnel to include chart, graphs, and visual overhead images; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Relationships include the cross divisional, and agency program staff, agency senior management, as well as staff and management of other governmental and private sector entities; to understand integration of hardware and software components to effectively analyze, evaluate, draw logical conclusions and solve complex application development project management. 

Desired/Ideal candidate will have at least five years experience with IT project management activities that have included the successful implementation of automation/application development projects.  Experience with CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) processes, PMI Certification and Web Enabled Software development project experience is an additional plus
