INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR
Schedule:
Full-time 80 hrs per pay period, day shift 8 am-5 pm, M-F, occasional weekends
Description:
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR designs, plans, and deploys all aspects of the technical 24/7 network infrastructure including LAN/WAN/WAN networks.
Maintains reliable and consistent attendance. Maintains in-depth knowledge of job-related principles, practices, standards, and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with CHC policies and procedures within pertinent laws and regulations in the following areas:
1. Performs enterprise design and planning for designated network infrastructure systems including, but not limited to Cisco-based wired/wireless networks and security.
2. Designs and validates enterprise-based security models for client/system authentication and access control, such as EAP-TLS, AD, E-Directory, TACACS+, etc.
3. Designs enterprise monitoring and management strategies to manage all aspects of LAN/WAN/MAN technologies.
4. Designs enterprise disaster recovery processes and high availability techniques.
5. Works with vendors, Information Technology analysts, and others to optimize the design, function, and performance of local, metro, and wide-area networks.
6. Performs advanced network tuning and operational performance enhancements.
7. Implements approved designs related to designated network infrastructure systems.
8. Implements and tests network security plans and systems.
9. Tests and validates disaster recovery plans for enterprise network systems.
10. Serves as technical lead on large project installations and roll-outs, directing contractors, subcontractors, and vendors as needed.
11. Installs and maintains switches, routers, and other network infrastructure equipment; load balancers, firewalls, and gateways.
12. Works with clients to determine network enhancements that improve productivity and usability.
13. Supports infrastructure in a 24/7/365 environment including scheduled, on-call, and emergency response support.
14. Configures and installs LAN, WAN, MAN, and SAN hardware as directed by supervisor.
15. Defines and carries out routine maintenance tasks related to network infrastructure operation.
16. Administers systems to deliver high availability and reliability of the network infrastructure and resources.
17. Documents designated systems including overall logic design, assumptions, and modifications of designated systems.
18. Maintains and uses sophisticated network management and monitoring tools to maintain Service Level Agreements.
19. Measures network availability and develops processes to improve or maintain set service levels.
20. Maintains call logs and metrics for support activities.
21. Maintains security groups on multiple platforms.
22. Performs upgrades and installs enhancements to existing systems.
23. Prepares project and network status reports.
24. Understands and documents network architecture for designated systems.
25. Follows PDCA (Plan - Do - Check - Act) cycle through all steps to resolve root causes or implement improvements.
26. Serves on the Production Readiness Review team for assigned technologies.
Requirements:
Education: Computer Science degree or equivalent experience is required.
Certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and either Cisco Certified Network Professional CCNP), or Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) are required.
Experience: A minimum of seven years of technology experience with a minimum of four years of related network support experience in a large production network.
Job Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Demonstrated ability to support and maintain internal and external client and vendor relationships related to remote computing, VPN, and dial-in access.
* Experience with multi-vendor computer shops, systems management of large multi-user systems and multi-vendor communication requirements is desired (i.e. Compaq, HP, Sun, IBM, etc.)
* Heavy knowledge of local area and wide area networking is required.
* Good project implementation skills the ability to take a systems project from inception to completion and accurately report progress.
* Must have extensive troubleshooting skills for OSI layer one, two and three problems.
* Troubleshooting - Multiple OS experience (Linux, Solaris, Microsoft), Cisco Hardware, Firmware/Software, Wide-Area, Metro and Local Area Networks, Internet, Cisco switch/router configuration, TCP/IP.
* ROUTING experience using RIP, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS.
* LAN- fiber and copper wiring standards, Ethernet, spanning-tree, 802.1 standards and wireless technologies.
* MAN/WAN- familiar with signaling, framing and protocol standards for circuits including 56k, ISDN, T1, T3, Frame Relay, ATM, MPLS, PPP, HDLC.
* Experience with load balancing, QoS, IP Multicast, VoIP solutions.
* Network Analyzers - OSI model, packet decodes, common protocols, understand and troubleshoot production problems; familiarity with Sniffer and/or Ethereal utilities.
* Familiar with Network Management tools, SNMP, CiscoWorks, CS-MARS.
* Experience using Visio.
Computer Literacy:
* Must be capable of operating a desktop computer, copy and fax machines.
* Must demonstrate expert skills in using Microsoft Windows, navigating in a Windows environment, using web browser software, and sending/receiving e-mail via Microsoft Outlook.
* Must demonstrate ability to set up, move, and disassemble a desktop computer.
* Must demonstrate advanced skills in using Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel and other applicable computer systems and/or applications to the degree required to perform job requirements.
* Must demonstrate expert understanding of computer networks (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, and intranets).
* Must demonstrate technical knowledge of computer and network hardware and operating systems.
* Must demonstrate basic skill in using Microsoft Visio to the degree required to perform job requirements.
* Ability to use the telephone to retrieve and answer voice mail, transfer calls, and respond to a pager.
