IS Database Developer Level 2 (1029)

We are looking for a Database Developer L2 in our Headquarters location in St. Louis, MO.


Position Summary

Gather and document requirements for projects requiring database development. Create and update data models and meta data repository. Design schemas and develop other database objects according to requirements and service level agreements. Provide consulting to application and junior database developers during design phase. Create database patches and docbaseumentation for testing in isolated test database and deployment to production environment. Review object design from peers in the group prior to releasing to test environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Gather requirement before beginning database development to ensure thorough understanding of problems being solved.

Document requirements to transfer knowledge to IT personnel and approval by stakeholders before development begins.

Create and update data models with appropriate tools prior to deployment to development environment.

Updates meta data repository prior database object development effort.

Develop and modify database objects in accordance with gathered requirements.

Create patches from development environment to be applied to test and production databases.

Test database components in isolated test environment before moving objects to production.

Review objects developed by peers in data management group to ensure objects adhere to development standards and service level agreements.

Encourage junior personnel learning through workload sharing.

Provide growth estimates of new tables/indexes to Data Management Team. Lead for capacity planning.

Assist IT personnel troubleshoot database symptoms.

Manage individual projects.

Other projects and duties as required.

Job Requirements

2 years prior application development required.

Experience in multi-tier architecture environment required.

Understanding of relational database theory and management system required.

Fundamental understanding of computer networking technologies (protocols, physical connectivity, etc.).

Thorough understanding of query processor architecture in targeted platform for performance tuning.

Ability to handle multiple tasks.

SQL Server Skills/Experience Requirements

3 year experience using Windows NT 4 Server and/or Windows 2000 Server

1 year experience administering SQL Server databases

1 year experience developing SQL Server database objects

1 year experience performance tuning SQL Server databases

Fundamental understanding of NT/Active Directory Security

IBM UDB Skills/Experience Requirements

3 year experience using AS/400

1 year experience administering UDB databases

1 year experience developing UDB database objects

1 year experience performance tuning UDB databases
