IS SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

Top level technical expert responsible for supporting a major application or group of related applications within an IS Section. May be called upon to instruct, direct and check the work of programmers, analysts and other team members. Responsibilities: 1. Work as a technical expert with clients, analysts, programmers and other team members to develop technical solutions to complex business problems. 30% 2. Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation. 30% 3. Prepare detailed specifications from which complex programs will be written. 10% 4. Instruct, direct, and quality assure the work of other programmers and analysts. 10% 5. Provide application support, which includes problem research, analysis, resolution and on-call support. 10% 6. Work with QA/Testing groups to resolve issues and to ensure software quality. 10% 7. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: 1. Two/four degree in IS related curriculum or equivalent work experience. 2. 6-10 years experience or equivalent proficiency in application design and programming. 3. Extremely competent in all phases of applications systems analysis, design, and programming. 4. Experience supporting both mainframe and distributed applications required. 5. Experience with MVS, JCL, Cobol and general database knowledge required 6. Experience with Oracle, SQL, SAS, Easytrieve, .Net Framework, WebFocus desired but not required
