IT Application Development Manager
MNI, a division of Time Inc. which offers targeted advertising within national magazines, is looking for an experienced IT Application Development Manager. The position is located at MNI?s headquarters office in Stamford, CT.
The Application Development Manager is responsible for leading a staff of developers, both permanent and temporary, through all phases of the application development life cycle. This includes gathering and documenting business requirements, creating functional and system designs, implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining new and existing applications.
The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, both written and oral. The Application Development Manager must demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with customers, both internal and external, senior management, and staff. This manager must exhibit sound business judgment and decision making capabilities.
The Application Development Manager will be responsible for creating, estimating, tracking, and maintaining project plans for both large and small projects. This manager will also be responsible for recruiting all development staff, both permanent and temporary.
The Application Development Manager will need to effectively identify business and technology trends that will affect current and future application development. This manager will work collaboratively with a small management team to ensure the success of all projects.
The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of experience in application development, with at least 3 years of supervisory and management experience. A Bachelors Degree or greater in Computer Science or a related field is required. The candidate must have experience developing and deploying applications with a broad range of technology, including Java, J2EE and Database applications.
The candidate should have some experience with the following technologies: Jbuilder (including DataExpress components), Microsoft SQL Server 2000, JRun or similar Application Servers, HTML, and FoxPro.
