IT - BUSINESS ANALYST - TRANSPORTATION

JOB SUMMARY

Operates as a spokesperson for business groups to determine appropriate IT -related solutions to business problems.  Provides analysis, definition and direction to development, deployment and maintenance activities.  Ensures correct business functionality, requirements, and industry standards are addressed within all IT applications.

The Business Analyst is a member of the Deployment Staff and reports to the  IT Manager and maintains a joint authority with the IT Manager over any external Consultants.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

-  Consults with business staff to develop understanding of the business needs supported by the system(s).  Responsible for determining how changing business needs will affect the system.  Understands the role of the system within the company and business units and provides ideas and recommendations regarding the evolution of the system.

-  Responds to questions and influences the client regarding current and potential system inputs, processes, and outputs.

-  Conducts research and analysis into the nature, effect and results of system problems or issues.

-   Develops detailed business user requirements, system documentation, workflow procedures, and data modeling. 

-  Negotiates plans, time frames and trade-offs while ensuring client understands the final results of the project

-  Reviews and recommends requested system changes, set-up or configuration and develops detailed specifications for implementation.  Communicates system changes and issues all levels.

 

-  Ensures current and accurate system documentation, coordinates and or performs testing of system modifications, and develops, provides, or coordinates system training, educational tools and materials.  May be involved with the Project Manager regarding planning/scheduling and sources allocation.

-  Produces reports as required to ensure proper project and task management.  Prototypes reports from existing client databases to satisfy user requests, data sampling, project analysis, or testing verification.

-  Monitors and audits the use and performance of the information systems; executes system quality control practices and procedures.

-  Acts as a liaison with IT and/or outside vendors as appropriate in support of the systems.  Works together with Consultants and Project Managers to ensure Elementis? business needs have been met.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

-  Good communication skills, oral, written, and listening.

-  Basic project management skills, including the ability to lead, facilitate, and organize.

-  Can develop training materials and conduct training classes, as needed.

-  Must have excellent interpersonal and motivation skills.

-  Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services

-  Can negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups. Gains trust quickly of other parties to the negotiations; has a good sense of timing.

 

Education: Required Bachelor?s degree in business, related discipline or commensurate experience

Experience:  Minimum of 3-5 years experience with JDE One World Distribution and Advanced Transportation in an HTML environment.  Heavy emphasis on supply chain in a multi-company, multi-currency organization.  Knowledge of OMW, ERW and/or manufacturing a plus.
