Intertek ETL SEMKO is the world's largest product and commodity testing, inspection and certification organization, with a global network of laboratories and offices that provide a strong local presence for our US and International customers.

 

Intertek tests a wide variety of HVAC produces, electrical and electronic goods from toys to telephones to appliances and medical equipment for product safety, electromagnetic comparability, and both absolute and relative product performances. We provide a multitude of services close to where clients design and source products with the test results and reports accepted and recognized as valid in target markets all over the world.

 

Currently we are recruiting for a IT Developer/Programmer/Analyst, located in our Cortland, NY location.

 

Nature of Work

Application specific programming duties as required to maintain, support and improve internal systems. Develops and implements specifications for technical programs. Will work closely with other IT Developers, Business Analysts as well as internal customers to identify and provide ?best? systems solutions.

 

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the IT Development Manager with direction from the Regional IT Manager for Applications Development.

? Modifies and codes programs from well defined specifications.

? Prepares complete documentation of the programs written including all modules and subroutines.

? Apply basic knowledge of various languages and correct syntax for all languages used.

? Ability to test, debug and document application programs.

? Provides assistance for users.

? Organize the daily work load in an efficient manner and inform other staff regarding the details of turn around time, test progress, and status.

? Will cross train in other development areas of the department

? Other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of two years successful programming experience using:

? .Net

? MS Access

? ASP

? HTML/CSS

? SQL 

? SQL Server

? Visual Basic/VB Script 6 or higher

? Oracle 9i

? Ability to communicate and interact effectively in both verbal and written format.

? Designate and meet application development / deployment dates.

? Work functional application issues after established business hours and on weekends if necessary.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

Programming Experience using

? PL/SQL and SQL*Plus

? Toad

? Oracle Applications 11i version 11.5.9 or higher;

? Oracle 10g database

? Discoverer version 4.x or higher

? Oracle Forms 6.x,

? XML

? Sharepoint

? Centura

? Dreamweaver

? Java

? Javascript

? FLASH

? C#

 

 Education:

4 Year college degree in IT or related degree

 

Communication Skills:

This individual must possess the following language skills:

? Read, interpret, analyze and apply knowledge gained from technical documentation and journals.

? Effectively present information to others, with the ability to effectively on a verbal and written level. 

? Good communication and people skills required.

? Ability to respond to questions from various levels including the general employee population and management.

? Interact with other Developers, Business Analysts and customers to establish system requirements

? Ability to work in a team environment

? The ability to document processes and procedures is required.

Reasoning Ability:

This individual must possess the following reasoning ability:

? Able to quickly understand business concepts and interpret/apply to a systems environment.

? Able to accept multiple requests from the field and prioritize each appropriately.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:

Must have:

? The ability to work independently and make decisions.

? Good organizational and time management skills.

? A solid technical background in programming systems and database design and understand relational database design/concepts.

? A minimum of 3 years experience in developing applications and have a highly adaptive approach to supporting business systems and user expectations. 

? The ability to test and verify database and application upgrades as well as the ability to work after hours and weekends if necessary.
