IT Development Manager - Real Time Trading Systems

Overview
Barclays Global Investors is seeking an experienced manager to provide technical oversight for projects undertaken by the Common Investment Process (CIP) team. The CIP team is responsible for providing technology solutions supporting: Core portfolio management, trading and post-trade investment data platforms Middle and back office investment processes Client/fund guidelines compliance Client/fund performance measurement Client/fund proxy voting Regulatory and AUM reporting

This is a Principal-level position, reporting to the Head of US CIP Technology. This candidate will lead a variety of projects within the team, and will also be responsible for providing technology ownership and oversight of: Core portfolio management, trading and post-trade investment data platforms Client/fund guidelines compliance

We are looking for an individual who has held a similar role in other IT organizations with an emphasis on experience with the following: Data platforms supporting real time trading systems Pre and post trade guidelines testing Front and middle office functions Derivative and fixed income instruments Real time and batch oriented data integration

Responsibilities
Strategy Participate in the development of the strategic blueprint for the data platform and data integration layer supporting the BGI real time trading system. Participate in the development of the strategic blueprint for the pre and post trade guidelines functionality for BGI.

Client Service
Develop a deep understanding of BGI's investment process, IT applications and client needs.
Develop quality client relationships with the team's key internal clients and IT managers.

Projects
Provide technical oversight on multiple concurrent projects relating to the data platform and data integration layer supporting the BGI real time trading system as well as projects relating to pre and post trade guidelines testing.
Provide technical leadership for a project to optimize performance of the data platform supporting real time trading system.
Work closely with business owners and technical leads to understand the system requirements and provide effective and supportable solutions that are in line with the strategic blueprint for the system.
Ensure all projects delivered meet audit requirements through proper testing, documentation, and monitoring.
Work with project tech leads and support team within the application development process to ensure that all applications follow application support standards and practices.



Requirements
Experience developing applications with heavy data components. 7 or more years of experience in a technical leadership role. Proven ability to provide a clear architectural blueprint for applications and an implementation strategy to achieve the goal set forth by the blueprint. Proven ability to marshal and deploy resources on projects in order to effectively deliver on time, on scope, on budget. The ability to forge relationships with clients of all levels (Managing Director, Principal, Associate) in all BGI locations (San Francisco, London, Toronto, Sydney, Tokyo) Strong personal drive and ability to execute and deliver results. Excellent and dynamic interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with third party applications such as Calypso, Aladdin, Charles River and Latent Zero is preferred.
