IT Manager - Engineering Systems

 

 

 

We have an immediate opening at our global headquarters in Aurora, Illinois for an IT Manager - Engineering Systems.

 

The IT Manager for Engineering Systems will lead a team that is responsible for defining, implementing and supporting systems that are primarily used to support CMC?s Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality departments.  The person in this position will be a working leader responsible for prioritizing and establishing direction for the team as well as developing and leading individual projects.

 

The current application environment supported by this team includes a custom Manufacturing Process Control reporting system built on SQL Server, Matrikon and Lighthammer, An Intranet and Customer Extranet built on Oracle 10g Portal, SampleManager (a Laboratory Information Management System which utilizes an Oracle database) and Qualtrax (a Document Management system). Current projects include a Quality Data Mart and a data collection system for a new product line. The person in this position will need to lead the team as well as perform development and support activities for existing applications. 

The key responsibilities of the IT Manager ? Engineering Systems are:Define Business Needs and Planning of IT Solutions ? Develop and maintain knowledge of the Operations and Quality departments and participate in the identification of technology solutions to improve a business process or resolve critical business issues.  Review alternative solutions and complete the process to gain approvals for projects.Project Management ? Perform project management activities for small, medium and large projects.  Coordinate team members, internal and external resources through the design, development and implementation phases of a project.Design, Development and Support ? Design, Develop and Support technical solutions to meet defined business requirements.  Develop an understanding of the technology required for each project and utilize a structured development methodology.  Maintain functional and technical expertise for the applications and technology.People leadership ? Establish objectives, monitor performance and complete performance appraisals for the team.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

Business - Strong customer focus.  Demonstrated ability to define requirements and develop/implement solutions to meet customer requirements. Demonstrated ability to lead a team while demonstrating flexibility to perform in multi-task situations. Knowledge of plant floor and/or quality processes and technologies.  Knowledge of Intellution applications and SQL Server is preferred.  Six Sigma experience and certification is a plus. Demonstrated understanding of a project management methodology with experience leading midsize projects. Demonstrated understanding of a development methodology and experience using a development methodology in small to large projects. Effective problem solving skills. Strong oral and written communications. 

Education ? B.S. degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related combination of a business degree and IT experience

Experience - Five years experience utilizing business process knowledge to define customer requirements and then utilizing technical expertise to implement and support the various technical solutions. One to two years experience as a team leader
