IT Specialist III/IV/Sr

Auburn University?s College of Agriculture/Alabama Agriculture Experiment Station (AAES) is seeking candidates for the position of Information Technology Specialist.  This position is a professional position responsible for designated technologies and services within the AU College of Agriculture and AAES. The Specialist is a member of the Computer Technology Unit and reports to that unit's director. The Specialist, under limited supervision, works to coordinate and support design and development activities associated with the web sites of the College of Agriculture, related departments, and the AAES. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: in coordination with Ag Communications, provides support and oversight for the college-level web site development and management; provides leadership, coordination, and support for designated individuals who maintain department web sites; participates in structuring, organizing, and integrating content of Ag/AAES web presence; identifies, communicates, and recommends emerging trends in web site design and content management as necessary; and coordinates the implementation of web-accessible databases with database developers throughout the College. In addition, the Specialist also collaborates with the IT Specialist responsible for the Extension web site and provides expert advice, assistance, and guidance to the management and other IT Specialists. Work assignments may have established deadlines and require periods of

"on-call" support responsibilities.

 

The minimum qualifications are a high school diploma or GED and five years of relevant experience; OR an Associate's degree from an accredited institution and three years of relevant experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, MIS, or related from an accredited institution and one year of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree in above disciplines from an accredited institution. Relevant experience includes extensive experience with multi-media tools and demonstrated skill in website support, content organization, and graphic design. Specifically, demonstrated experience with the following applications and languages is required: HTML, PHP, CSS, MySQL or similar database applications; Macromedia DreamWeaver and Contribute; and Adobe Acrobat and PhotoShop. Experience with the Apache web server is also required. Candidates must have demonstrated experience and success working both in a collaborative team environment and independently. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills along with demonstrated technical excellence; and possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent tasks. Desired qualifications include: Degree in MIS or Computer Science/Engineering; knowledge of Perl, Java, CGI, or other web-related programming languages; familiarity with MS PowerPoint, Excel and Access; experience with Unix/Linux operation and configuration; supervisory experience; and working in the Land Grant University System.  Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
