Information Security Representive - Security Services Department
MIT Lincoln Laboratory has pioneered in advanced electronics since its origin in 1951 as a Federally Funded Research and Development Center of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Laboratory's fundamental mission is to apply science and advanced technology to critical problems of national security.
We have an excellent opportunity in our Security Services Department for an Information Security Representative! This individual will be responsible for implementing and maintaining classified and unclassified computer systems security requirements in a heterogeneous computer environment consisting of UNIX (Solaris and Linux), Sun, Mac, and Windows systems. Will conduct security audits, review audit trail records, and perform security vulnerability assessments on facility systems. Will evaluate tools and technologies that will improve network and system security. Will coordinate and conduct security education programs for user community. Will facilitate and oversee the accreditation of new systems, provide support for the re-accreditation of existing systems, and coordinate the proper decertification of classified systems and media. Will coordinate and participate in facility system contaminations and associated clean-up measures. Will be the point of contact for establishing classified networks such as SIPRnet, JWICS, NIPRnet, DREN, CWAN, and DMS. Will contribute to the development of disaster recovery plans to rebuild critical systems. Local as well as some overnight travel will be required.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 5 or more years of information security experience. Must have thorough working knowledge and technical experience with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), with particular focus on Chapter 8, and be familiar with DCID or JAFAN 6/3 requirements. Knowledge of business software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and SIMS) is required. Strong interpersonal and management skills are a must. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Experience leading teams and committees is required.
