Job Description:
Full time positions available to perform ISS risk assessments and security testing. System types/technologies assessed include telecommunications, networking, client/server, web-based, automation, operating systems, databases, and custom and off-the-shelf applications. The successful candidate must have a strong desire to solve customer problems by applying analytical skills and writing abilities. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for direct customer interaction and high-level management interface. Typical duties and responsibilities include the following:
Perform ISS risk assessments, risk analysis, risk mitigation planning/implementation, and testing to improve Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) operational and support infrastructure systems security. Duties include conducting security site surveys, performing analysis, reviewing vendor documentation, planning and conducting security testing, and developing recommendations and supporting documents for systems? certification and authorization. Requires knowledge and ability to apply National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), and industry practices for information security.
Provide systems security engineering support to specific system program offices for implementation of technical and operational security controls. Duties include assessing security remediation recommendations, performing solution alternatives analysis, and supporting solution implementation efforts. Requires knowledge of and experience with ISS controls for assets including operating systems, databases, and networking equipment. Knowledge of the National Airspace System (NAS) and industry security standards a plus. Must demonstrate strong initiative to plan and coordinate program activities with FAA headquarters, regional, and field personnel.
Job Requirements:
BS in Engineering, Computer Science or related field. Previous FAA experience, consulting skills, telecommunications systems knowledge, computer systems knowledge, and familiarity with ISS concepts a plus. Strong oral communications and written skills are required. Must have the ability to interact with FAA personnel on a daily basis. Job location is in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC with some travel required.
