Bridger Coal Company, a subsidiary of PacifiCorp (a part of the MidAmerican Energy Holding Company) is seeking an IT professional for its surface and underground mining operation located in Southwest Wyoming. Bridger Coal Company began a surface mining operation in 1974 and has produced more than 180 million tons of coal. The Company is now transitioning to an underground mining operation. The Underground Mine will be a longwall operation and utilize continuous miners for development. At planned production rates, and with our present coal reserves, the Mine has the potential to be in operation for over 20 years. The Mine is planned to reach full production in early 2007 and is currently developing main entries and the first longwall panel. This captive mining operation will produce safe, low-cost quality fuel for PacifiCorp?s Jim Bridger Power Plant.
Depending on skills and experience, this IT professional position will be titled as an I/T Specialist or Systems Analyst and will be responsible for providing evaluation, analysis, design, development, installation and testing of new computer systems as well as maintaining existing systems, including software and hardware for network infrastructure, business, communication and mine operational systems. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing database administration, maintaining system availability/performance, providing mine-wide training and assistance, developing and analyzing standards/procedures/guidelines, and providing desktop support for all users.
The position requires a working knowledge of application systems development methodologies along with technical skills in problem solving. A Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, mathematics or engineering is preferred, along with skills in HP/UNIX; LINUX system administration, Oracle Database 8-10g, Oracle PL*SQL*Reports & Forms, Oracle ADI & Discover, Oracle Application Modules in finance, purchasing and maintenance, LAN/WAN management, server management, Apache web server administration, programming background in Perl, XML, CGI and Process Control/SCADA experience. Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for qualifications.
