AmerisourceBergen Solutions Group is seeking an Interface Software Engineeer to add to its team in Vernon Hills, IL. Under general direction of the Manager ? Software Development, the Interface Software Engineer contributes to the software design and development activities for the AmerisourceBergen Solutions Group (ABC-SG). This position will work in Product Development and work closely with Special Projects to develop HL7 realtime interfacing for the MedStorm application/product. The Software Engineer designs, documents, tests, and modifies current and new software development applications; reviews requirements documents and helps to develop solutions in order to meet these requirements; leads the effort in developing specifications and designs for development projects as well as contributes to specific assignments. Responsibilities also include erforming activities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.
The Interface Software Engineer also
1. Contributes effectively as a member of the team; takes ownership of individual assignments and projects.
2. Develops, codes and unit tests design solutions.
3. Leads and participates in writing and reviewing software functional specifications and design reviews.
4. Creates detailed designs, performs analyses, creates prototypes, and documents completed designs.
5. Mentors and directs the efforts of more entry-level Engineers.
6. Provides third tier support when required.
7. Contributes to the development and achievement of ABC-SG organizational goals and objectives.
8. Participates in activities such as reviewing marketing requirements.
9. Functions as task, project, or team leader when assigned; represents the organization on project teams and may perform technical project leadership roles while fostering teamwork and collaboration within and across work groups.
10. Provides input for Software Development budgeting and scheduling.
11. Provides input for Software Development software and hardware purchases.
12. Performs related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor?s degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires a minimum of four (4) years directly related and progressively responsible experience. Other skills, knowledge and ability requirements are
1.Thorough knowledge and understanding of business principles, processes and technology
2. Knowledge of physical database structures; ability to analyze, manage, tune databases for performance; knowledge of relational database concepts; disaster recovery; best practices
3. Good analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
4. Good interpersonal skills
5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
6. Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
7. Ability to use office equipment such as printers, copiers, and faxes
8. Knowledge of computers to operative effectively with Microsoft Office Suite of applications; Pentium PCs, Unix workstations, web servers, information servers, directory servers, remote access servers, LAN/WAN network environments; Windows 95, 98, 2000, 2003, Windows NT, Windows XP, Apple, UNIX and Linux; knowledge of Visual Basic 6 and .net. EDI or HL7 knowledge is preferred.
