INTERNET SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

 

 Exstream Software has an opening in our information technology department for an Internet Systems Specialist. The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver Exstream's information on the Internet and Intranet by maintaining web site operations, content, data and images and for developing the technical architecture and databases of web efforts.  This position has responsibility for maximizing site up-time, securing the Internet service, keeping the site up-to-date, recommending programming changes, developing technical architecture and developing Internet services.

 

In addition, this position has responsibility for maintaining the web environment by identifying system requirements, installing upgrades and monitoring system performance.  Additional responsibilities include providing desktop hardware and software support to Exstream's helpdesk.

 

Requirements: 

 

*An Associates degree in Computer Science or CIS is required for this job.  Preference will be given to individuals holding a Bachelor's or advanced degree or equivalent experience.

*Ability to handle work of diverse scope and complexity.

*Knowledge of different browser and platform constraints.

*Ability to create and implement Web disaster recovery and contingency plans.

*Designs compelling user interfaces and understands strengths and limitations of browser-based UIs.

*Experience developing content and combining images with sound, text and special effects with multimedia software such as RealVideo, PowerPoint, Director, and Flash.

*Advanced Web development skills using HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, CGI, Perl and Java.

*Practical knowledge of how to administer a Web server, such as IIS or Apache.

*Familiar with system administration, including system maintenance, workstation support, Internet connectivity, and back-up procedures.

*Advanced understanding of Internet technologies including TCP/IP, HTTP, XML, JSP, .NET, ASP, CGI, LDAP, and SSL.

*Effective writing skills, using various styles to address different needs and audiences.

*Demonstrated ability in good judgment and utilizing available information to resolve issues .

 

Candidates MUST BE LOCATED IN or be WILLING TO COMMUTE to the Lexington, Kentucky area.
