Internship Web Content Administrator German

Choice Hotels is seeking an intern for the following position. Compensation will be $25.00 an hour. Monday ? Friday, 40 hour work week. August 1- January 30, 2007. German fluency required.

Perform content enhancements for Choice?s Internet and Intranet web sites. This includes coding of XML documents from pre-determined XML schemas, creation of HTML static pages, development of cascading stylesheets, optimization of web site graphics, optimization of search engine results via meta data, and German translation/localization of web site content. Opportunity to learn hotel marketing strategies from one of the world's largest hotel franchising companies, along with development of new IS processes and web technologies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Code HTML static pages, XML documents and translate/localize static content and graphics. Conduct code reviews, unit tests, debug HTML and XML documents, and perform pre-release system tests.

Conduct quality assurance checks of translated content and graphics and assist with the resolution of QA issues.

Provide production fixes, if necessary.

Assist with technical specifications requirements definition and scoping of HTML/XML coding and translations updates.

Perform updates to departmental documentation.

Attend product and web site related meetings and provide status reports to management.

Learn and utilize new technologies as applicable to web content administration.


SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

? Bachelor (4 year) degree in Information Systems, Business Management, or related field of study
? Proven experience with HTML 4.0, CSS 2.0, FTP, Unix vi Editor, Windows NT/2000/XP, and file management/directory organization
? Written / Verbal bilingual skills in English/German required; native skill preferred
? Experience with XML/XSL, schema definition, preferred
? Working knowledge of taxonomy data structuring, preferred
? Excellent organizational and analytical skills; oral, written, and listening communication skills
? Excellent grammar, proof reading, and text editing skills
