J2EE Developer/Senior J2EE Developer

The first Family Dollar store was opened in Charlotte, NC in 1959. It was a relatively small, self-service operation located in a neighborhood convenient to low and middle income consumers. The merchandise assortment featured basic goods for family and home needs, and the no frills, low overhead, cash-and-carry environment provided good value at the lowest price points. As new stores opened in the early years of the Company's existence, it became clear that this merchandising concept filled a niche in the marketplace and held great promise for supporting a chain of much larger size.



Over the last 5 years, Family Dollar grown from 2000 stores to over 5700 stores and continues to open 500+ new stores per year. In order to sustain this growth IT systems continue to grow and expand to not only support the growth but to provide value to the business in an increasingly competitive environment.  Our systems must continue to support current technology while at the same time integrating the latest and greatest technology allowing us to provide information to our business clients in new and valuable ways. 

 

 

Requirements:

The candidate must have a strong J2EE foundation. An ideal candidate would be proficient in Java, EJB, DAO, DTO, JMS, JPD, JSP, SOAP, WSDL, Custom tag libraries, XSD, Beans, Struts, Servlets, MBeans, JMX, Oracle/MS SQL, Design patterns & IDE's (such as workshop or eclipse or WSAD).

 



Candidates with less J2EE experience but with an ability to learn and pickup fast may be considered for the positions

 

Qualifications:

 

?  2 years of hands on J2EE/Java development experience in J2EE application servers (Weblogic, Websphere, Jboss, etc)

?  2 years of experience in development using IDE’s such as workshop/eclipse/WSAD

?  Proficient in the following Technologies: JSP, XML, Web Services, JMS, JDBC

?  Ability to work timely and efficiently in a rapidly-growing environment

?  Must be able to work effectively within a team with assignment independence

?  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to mentor junior level developers and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical management and line staff

?  Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

 

 

The following experience will be considered a plus:

 

?  Portal Experience

?  Experience with Xquery

?  Experience with JPD and/or Weblogic Integration

?  Experience with Open Source technologies like Spring, Hibernate, Beehive

?  JUnit testing background

?  Experience in HTML, Javascript & XSL

?  Java developer certification

?    Familiarity with deployment techniques & build processes
