Forbes.com ( http://www.forbes.com) has exciting, career opportunities for junior-to-mid-level Java developers. Our team develops and supports the Forbes.com site in addition to ForbesAutos.com and ForbesTraveler.com as well as our internal publishing system.

We are an open source Java/UNIX shop and use Apache, Tomcat, MySQL. We also use some vendor products such as Oracle, RealMedia OpenAdStream, Autonomy Search, and Interwoven TeamSite.

Required skills:
* Building websites using JSP and Servlets preferably in Tomcat or JBoss
* Skilled communication with non-technical (e.g. editorial) staff

Highly desirable skills
* Fluent enough in UNIX to develop webapps at the command line without IDE's, i.e. write code, build, debug, and deploy using only UNIX command line tools: vi, emacs, pico
* Familiar with ant, have written build scripts
* Familiar with CVS, or other version control
* Fluent in SQL, and have worked hands-on with at least one RDBMS (preferably MySQL, Oracle) using SqlPlus, Toad, MySQL Console, etc.
* XML parsing (Xerces, JDom, etc)

Nice to have skills:
* DHTML
* Perl
* UNIX Admin (Set up your own Linux box, installed Apache, etc)
* Experience with content management and XML metadata

* Experience working on a high-volume media website
