JAVA/J2EE SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Orbitz, is one of the world?s largest travel networks.  This position is geared for a software developer on the Marketing team, which is responsible for creating new applications ranging from geo-targeting to creative new technology which allows people to easily land on the site.  This position will work on multiple websites: Orbitz, CheapTickets, and future websites slated.  This position will work with the front-end team in building dynamic web functionality, with the Business team to define products for our consumer websites. Potential to grow into a senior developer.

Qualifications

Required Skills:Minimum 3 years experience coding J2EE or MVC-framework applicationUnderstanding of algorithm analysis and data structures ? understand CollectionsBasic understanding of Design PatternsAbility to follow strict coding standards ? always javadoc, always code reviewUnderstanding of emerging website technology.  Familiar with how to scale a website.Familiarity with browser-server communication, HTTP protocol, and related technologies.Strong organizational and communication skills.Understanding of threadsKnowledge of basic RDBMS and JDBCAbility to learn quicklyCommitment to project plan and take accountability of deadlinesUnderstanding of the TCP/IP protocol


Desired Skills:Knowledge of Oracle RDBMS and understanding of JDBC connections (i.e. transactions, cursors, stored procedures)Experience working with Spring and Hibernate frameworksSpends time outside of work with outside technologies ? i.e. open source contribution, publishing articlesBA or Master?s degree from a top-tier school a plusCoding JUnit testsKnowledge of RMI
