PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Design, develop, test, and debug web sites, web applications, complex web pages, prototypes and other software components using Java, Servlets, JSP, Struts, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, EJB, SQL and other technologies as needed. Analyze and design software applications using Object Oriented Analysis & Design (OOAD) techniques and methodologies including Unified Modeling Language (UML), and design patterns. Create technical documentation regarding software design. Enhance applications, fix defects, and design and develop utilities to support the development process as assigned. Create estimates, report status, and meet deadlines for assigned projects and tasks. Follow department coding standards and best practices. Present own code for review and participate in reviews for code written by other developers. Participate in team and group discussions pertaining to coding standards, best practices, and technical design. Provide feedback on Use Cases and other project documentation, and assist with requirements gathering and the creation of Use Cases and other project documentation when needed. Follow established development processes, including processes regarding source code control and builds. Diagnose and work with the appropriate individuals to resolve Web-based development and system problems. Perform other duties and undertake other responsibilities as assigned, which may include cross-utilization within the department or with other departments.

OCCASIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Analyze the performance of hardware and software interfaces and identify alternatives for optimizing systems resource usage. Provide support outside regular business hours.

EDUCATIONAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Two years of web applications development experience preferred. One year of Java programming experience preferred. One year of web development experience preferred. Object-oriented programming experience preferred. Web development and application skills (i.e. Java, Servlets, JSP, Struts, JSTL, XHTML/HTML, and JavaScript) preferred. Web services, XML, SOAP/XML and EJB skills preferred. Knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis & Design (OOAD) techniques and methodologies preferred. Unified Modeling Language (UML) experience preferred. One year experience using relational database technologies (RDMS) and experience writing stored procedures preferred (i.e.,SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, JDBC, ODBC). Knowledge of e-commerce solutions, web development tools and technology platforms (i.e., JBuilder, Oracle, Unix, NT, Apache, Tomcat and Resin) preferred. Knowledge of MS Office Suite required. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and solve problems in a timely and accurate manner. Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously. Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with management, staff and customers as well as demonstrate sound judgement/reasoning skills. Must have the ability to work independently and possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
