Java Development Manager

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist in leading Peopleclick's next generation technology transition to a Java/J2EE platform. This position will offer the candidate opportunities to play a lead role in an exciting initiative that will offer technical, operational, and management challenges. As a member of the Product Engineering management team, this individual will play a key role in defining both our technical and operational standards going forward. This SW Development Manager position requires a motivated and high integrity leader with sound SW development management experience. This individual must have proven experience successfully managing small to medium sized Java/J2EE development teams ranging from 6-10 software engineers. The successful candidate must be a professionally mature, a creative problem solver, and delivery oriented with a solid track record of delivering high quality software releases on time and within budget. They must also have sound Software Development Lifecycle experience.

Responsibilities

Leading development team to achieve operational excellence
All development related SDLC activities associated with development component of projects
Day to day mentoring and coaching of team
Prioritization and management of team?s workload
Driving innovation and evangelizing our next generation technology platform
Operational project and technology decision making
Work closely with other functional teams in the organization to deliver high quality releases and ensure efficient day to day operations
Project and operational status to senior management
Management of technology and offshore development vendors
Manage customer escalations from support and assist services teams as needed

Experience / Skills

Strong technical understanding of the Java /J2EE standards and associated technologies
J2EE, Opensource Java Frameworks, Workflow Engines, Rules engines, HTML, XML, XSL, DHTML, Web Services, Message Queuing, Message brokering, routing, transformation, etc.
Proven experience delivering large scale production Java based applications
Strong Java Application server experience (BEA WebLogic, Tomcat, WebSphere, or equivalent)
RDBMS design experience (preferrable SQL Server and Oracle)
Proven design and deployment experience
ASP or SaaS application development experience preferred
4+ years management experience
3rd Party integration platform experience (EAI, ESB, etc.) is plus
Experience managing offshore developers is a plus
