Skills Required: Engineering and architecture experience with J2EE application development environments Experience in installing, managing, administering and tuning BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, TomCat, IIS, Apache Experience with Windows 2003 server (must have) Experience supporting Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Web services development environments Familiarity with Active Directory and SiteMinder Experience with configuring multiple JVMs with IIS or Apache Experience with horizontal scaling using Windows Server operating systems and Five load balancers (nice to have) Experience designing and implementing a software deployment/replication strategy for the clustered servers (should have) Knowledge of HTTP 1.1 and its capabilities for improving performance, how to configure the portal to leverage the HTTP 1.1 capabilities (should have) Also experience with / knowledge of? The basic concepts of the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) Assembly and installation of server-side Java enterprise applications Configuring security for server-side application resources using Active Directory Deploying applications in clustered environments View and analysis of performance information about server and application components Use of problem determination tools and log files to troubleshoot problems on both server platforms Configuring nodes to create a real-world development-test-production environment Use the cluster support provided by either WebLogic or WebSphere Application Server to improve application throughput and availability Configure session persistence and define a session database Discuss Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) configurations and firewall options Ensure quality of service (QoS) for large scale J2EE applications hosted on the portal server Incorporate authentication, authorization, auditing and non-repudiation services on the portal farm

Special Qualifications: Portal experience is a plus, possible Vignette Application Portal .NET and Java application integration would also be good Java development and JSP development experience is a plus, but not required

 

Work Description:
This person will be supporting our Portal Upgrade project as well as ad-hoc weekly/daily support for our portal infrastructure and related efforts, as described below:Assisting with set-up and configuration of BEA WebLogic on Windows 2003 Server Assisting with tuning of BEA WebLogic and Windows 2003 Assisting with migration of J2EE applications from Tomcat to BEA WebLogic Assisting with set-up of monitoring for BEA WebLogic and J2EE applications Assisting with creation of install and recovery procedures for J2EE applications Assisting with maintenance of existing Tomcat/portal infrastructure
