Java Swing

These are 3 contract positions that will run indefinitely. They currently have an estimated 3-5 year backlog in man-hours.

The group reports up through the production line of the business. The applications they develop support manufacturing execution systems. Most of them support the plant floor or are in the plants themselves managing things such as reducing production time, scheduling, increasing production at the plants, etc. (core business stuff). Some are HW interfaces for print labeling applications or PLC's (programming logic control). 80% of the apps are desktop based.

The core skills are (in order of importance):

Great communication skills

Java experience - PRIMARILY A FAT CLIENT ENVIRONMENT NOT WEB APPS!! Specifically, Swing applications (they are willing to teach the swing if we find a solid Java developer that brings more than web application experience to the table).

HIBERNATE persistence framework

Object Oriented - Agile Methodology is what they use predominately for development but someone familiar with eXtreme programming and RUP would be an asset.

Experience managing development from design to final implementation and supporting those apps once in production

Tools - Eclipse, WSAD, Rational Toolset, Jprobe; Junit

RDB - DB2 on the PC
