Jr. System Administrator

Job Description:
Alpine Electronics Research of America, Inc. is in search of a Jr. System Administrator to be a part of the IT team. Some job duties will include, but are not limited to the following: Installing and maintaining local area network hardware and software, including Windows/Unix/Linux servers, peripherals, network nodes, and wiring. Setup, testing and support of servers and workstations. Configure dual boot desktop configurations of Windows and Linux. Use and maintain installation & enhancement procedures used by the IT department. Record adds, moves and changes for all systems via the fixed asset database. Create and maintain scripts to automate administrative tasks. Maintains all UPS’s and their software clients for Linux and Windows. Maintain software by installing upgrades, patches and service packs. Create, maintain, customize & delete user accounts for Unix, Linux, Windows, Lotus Notes, Checkpoint VPN, and Dial up. Provides support to end users on a variety of issues. Identifies researches and resolves technical problems. Monitors and reports network stability. Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate should posses the following: A degree or equivalent in an IT related area and minimum of 1-2 years of Unix/Linux administration experience is required. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Interpersonal and problem solving skills are required. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Information Technology discipline. Intimate knowledge of multiple operating systems is important. MCP or Linux certifications are a plus.
