Junior Data Architect

 

Higher One is currently seeking a junior data architect. This role is ideal for an independent, fast learning, motivated individual who wishes to increase their knowledge and mastery of high availability relational databases, data warehousing, data modeling, and performance tuning. Little experience (1-3 years) with relational databases is required. We?re seeking a smart, motivated individual who wants to learn and develop their skills in a high paced and driven environment.

 

Responsibilities

?  Administer mission critical relational databases. These databases include:

o Production Oracle instance supporting Higher One?s online banking application.

o Multiple MySQL instances supporting various internal software development applications.

o Multiple MSSQL instances supporting various office applications.

?  Monitor and tune the performance of all databases.

?  Work closely with our software engineering group in the design and implementation of the data model for our Higher One?s online banking application.

?  Administer Higher One?s data warehouse.

 

Technical Qualifications:

? Database Administration required  (1-3 years experience as DBA or Database Administrator or similar)

? Oracle and MySQL experience preferred.

? Troubleshooting and tuning experience a plus.

? SQL Reporting and stored procedure development preferred

? Unix System Administration a plus (1-3 years experience)

? LAMP development skills a plus.

? Experience with software development a plus.

 

Other Qualifications:

? Good technical diagnostic expertise including problem investigation, reproduction, and resolution skills.

? Ability to work under pressure.

? Has strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

? Has the ability to acquire new skills efficiently, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.

? Bachelor's degree preferred.
