Junior Test Engineer

The engineer will be part of the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) project team. The team will work with our ELN vendor and internal development staff to configure, customize and integrate the ELN package with other laboratory systems. The team will deploy the ELN to chemists at 3 sites and also provide training and support during a phased rollout period. A person in this position will be responsible for testing the customized N-tier package and system integration components. They will also be required to assist in the configuration and administration of the package and the troubleshooting of problems. The ideal candidate will have a software development background with significant experience in preparing software test plans, testing N-tier software products at all tiers and documenting test procedures and scripts. A person in this position will work closely with our internal development team and the vendor to communicate defects and deliver new releases that meet QA standards. Other responsibilities may include software deployment, data migration, maintenance, troubleshooting and user support. The candidate must have 6+ years of experience in Oracle, Visual Basic, IIS, XML and knowledge of N-tier and service oriented architecture software development . A bachelor's (or higher) degree in Computer Science, science or engineering is required. Some background in life science or pharmaceutical R&D is preferred. The successful candidate must be self-motivated to learn new software and driven to accomplish project goals. Strong communication, organizational, time and data management skills are required.
