LAN/Computer Specialist

Job Description: Position Title: LAN Computer Specialist
Department: JCPenney Store Support Center - Statesville, NC

Responsibilities include installing computer hardware, network terminals, and printers, as well as software installations and configurations. Provide trouble shooting on PC's, Terminals, barcodes scanners, and printers. Provide support to users for application and network problems. Open, track, update and escalate tickets in the Remedy Database. Maintains documentation on inventories, configurations, etc. Must be able to work flexible hours with off hours coverage and on call beeper availability. Some heavy lifting required (Up to 50 LBS)

Requirements:

1. College degree in Information Technology or Certifications.
2. A degree or certification for Micro Computer Specialist or related work experience.
3. Ability to use network diagnostic and installation hardware, such as protocol and LAN analyzers.
4. Complete knowledge of PC software and hardware configurations.
5. Excellent decision making and problem solving skills.
6. Printer configurations and trouble shooting.
7. Knowledge of Office 97 and 2000.
8. Related Work experience.
9. Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal skills.
10. High aptitude for systems and advanced computer skills.
11. Ability to train and assist users.
12. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and have the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
13. Able to access the end users needs and translate them to system development, enhancements and procedures while cognizant of the effect on interfacing systems used.
14. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred but not required:
1. Knowledge of Oracle, and SQL.
2. Understanding of RF networks.
3. Understanding Net terminals, and terminal servers.

Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal skills. Degree or certification in Computer Science or equivalent business experience. High aptitude for systems and advanced computer skills. Ability to train and assist users. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and have the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment. Able to access the end users needs and translate them to system development, enhancements and procedures while cognizant of the effect on interfacing systems used. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
