The Laboratory Operations Manager is responsible for the business development and ongoing management of the Research and Development Lab Operations group within the CA Wily Technology Division. The primary responsibility of this group is to manage development systems within the Research and Development laboratories, and to ensure the availability, reliability, utilization and integrity of these systems. The Lab Manager will work closely with the Director to design and maintain a state of the art lab of several hundred machines to provide Engineers access to the latest application servers, J2EE and .NET test applications, databases, and network infrastructure across every major operating system and hardware platform.

Ideal candidates will have 10+ years of System Administration, Lab Administration or IT experience, with 7+ years supporting labs with 500+ machines and 5+ years management experience. Candidates will possess the ability to commit to schedules despite numerous obstacles and unknowns; troubleshoot software / hardware configuration problems; develop clear and concise proposals, system diagrams, network diagrams as well as forecast lab growth and develop rolling upgrade policies. Lab Managers will have expert knowledge of backup, imaging, restoration policies. Candidates will possess a strong knowledge of: J2EE Test Applications (e.g. ECPerf, Petstore, Trade2); J2EE Technologies (e.g. JSP, Servlets, EJB, JDBC Drivers); Java Application server administration / tuning (e.g. Weblogic, WebSphere, iPlanet, Oracle); TCP/IP, networking topology, routers, switches, firewalls; Active Directory, LDAP. Ideal candidates will be familiar with: Java application server clustering; VMWare; .NET Framework; Database administration / tuning (e.g. Oracle, DB2); System administration / tuning (e.g. Solaris, AIX, Windows); OS390, HP/UX, AS/400.
